Grammar Plus A1, A2, B1: choose the right level for you

It’s not always easy to find the right English study tools. Especially if your English skills are quite rudimentary, or even non-existent. Approaching a new language for the first time can be intimidating, but having access to the right tools will make it much easier. But before you buy anything, check your current language level, since it may not be as low as you’d thought.

For high school students, or for anyone looking to learn the basics of the international language of excellence, I recommend these books:

Grammar Plus A1

This is a textbook for English beginners. By the time you finish the book you’ll be ready to say and understand the most commonly-used phrases surrounding daily life. Phrases will be as basic as “where do you live, what’s your name, and where are you a student”. It’s a great way to learn the basics.

Get Grammar Plus A1 if you are a beginner.

Grammar Plus A2

Moving on to the next step: this a higher level so to use the textbook correctly, you’ll need to be able to recognise the simplest words in common use and be able to put together simple sentences. After you’ve finished studying this manual, you’ll know how to distinguish between the different verb tenses and use more sophisticated vocabulary, all while discussing subjects that are relevant to home and school life.

Purchase Grammar Plus A2 if you are confident that you already have the basics of English down.

Grammar Plus B1

If you want to improve your knowledge of the English language, and if you’d like to be able to get around more easily when you are traveling, so you can ask questions and discuss a variety of topics, still speaking in simple, direct sentences, but with more confidence and a greater vocabulary, this is just the book for you.

Buy Grammar Plus B1 only if you’re sure that you already know a decent amount of English, or after you’ve already finished the first two books mentioned above!
